About the exhibition
The newly-produced photo exhibition The Testament of Tebaran is a revealing and powerful testimony that illustrates the devastating effects of deforestation on Borneo through the eyes of Mattias Klum. Tebaran is a member of the dying nomadic Penan tribe of Borneo, and a wanted man because of his struggle to save the rain forest. This is the first public viewing of the exhibition that will go on a world tour 2010-2011.
Mattias Klum is one of the world’s leading photographers and filmer’s and a frequent contributor to National Geographic Magazine. He has published nine books, a number of documentary films and is a coveted lecturer world wide.
The Postcode Lotteries are proud to present “The Testament of Tebaran” by Mattias Klum. The exhibition aims to engage people in fighting deforestation and to inspire them to make active choices in order to contribute to a greener and more sustainable world.
About the Postcode Lotteries
The mission of the Postcode Lotteries in the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK is to raise funds for charities and to increase awareness for their work, by organizing lotteries. A set percentage of the turnover goes to charity, so the charities always win. Since the start in 1989, more than 3.7 billion Euros have been raised for hundreds of charities dedicated to building a better world for people, animals and nature. The Postcode Lotteries believe in the force of combining various sectors, both commercial and non-profit, and focusing on solutions, the will to act and the possibility of change.
An other interesting exhibition in Copenhagen dealing with deforestation is Ghost Forest. A spectacular exhibition where giant tree stumps, many of which are naturally fallen and all of which are sourced from sustainably logged forests in Ghana are exhibited at Thorvaldsens Plads during COP15, see www.ghostforest.org for more information
